Crackers injure 10 schoolchildren

GUJRANWALA, Nov 9: At least 10 schoolchildren were injured on Friday when some youths of a marriage party threw crackers near school lawn in Rasul Nagar village, Alipur Chattha.

The injured were rushed to the local civil hospital from where some of them were discharged after first aid.

HOMAGE: Provincial Local Bodies Minister Brig Hamid Saeed (retired) has paid homage to philosopher and poet of the east Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Speaking at his 124th birth anniversary here on Friday, the minister said it was the idea of Allama Iqbal which the Muslims of the subcontinent had translated into a reality.

He urged the people to follow his teachings to make the country on the road to prosperity.

District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha and National Science College principal Prof Muhammad Arshad also spoke on the occasion.

HIJACKED: Two cars were hijacked by five highwaymen from the city here on Friday. PAT city president Babu Nazir Ramey and Muhammad Iqbal were intercepted by armed robbers and after snatching their vehicles drove away with them.
