Increase in pension announced

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: The pesion of federal government employees has been increased by 15 per cent with effect from December 1, 2001.

The ministry of finance said the government had announced 15 per cent increase in the pension of those federal government employees who had retired prior to the introduction of 1991 Basic Pay Scales.

It said that, for those employees who had retired prior to the introduction of 1994 Basic Pay Scales, but on or after the introduction of 1991 Pay Scales, an increase of 10 per cent had been announced.

The ministry said that for those employees who had retired on or after the introduction of 1994 Basic Pay Scales and up to the date of introduction of revised scales, an increase of 5 per cent had been announced, with effect from December 1 2001.

The government has directed all the federal government pensioners to contact Special Pension Cell of AGPR,Islamabad, and its sub-offices at Karachi, Lahore, Pehsawar, Quetta and Gilgit after November 15, 2001.

Special pension cells will start functioning for issuance of authority of increase in pension to respective branches of National Bank of Pakistan/treasuries on top priority basis.

Pensioners have also been advised to bring with them original PPO books and the national identity card in support of their identification.—APP
