Kiwis want to play in Australia
BRISBANE, Nov 7: New Zealand cricket captain Stephen Fleming wants Australian authorities to allow Kiwi teams to play in their domestic state competition.
Speaking on the eve of the first Test between the teams, Fleming said New Zealand cricket would be strengthened if they were allowed to enter two regional teams in the Australian state competition, formally known as the Sheffield Shield.
“If we could get more players involved playing over here it’s got to be a good thing,” Fleming said on Wednesday.
“Australia has the best domestic competition in the world and I think that is one of the strengths of Australian cricket.”
New Zealand teams already play in the Australian national rugby league and soccer competitions but cricket officials said there were no plans at this stage to do the same cricket.—Reuters
