Police break up anti-US protest in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Police in occupied Kashmir used batons on Tuesday to break up a protest involving dozens of demonstrators against relentless US-led strikes on Afghanistan.

Police detained at least ten activists, who were leading the demonstration, from the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP).

The protesters, who included women and were holding placards, shouted anti-United States slogans.

“Help Afghans to live in peace, respect sovereignty and independence of Afghanistan,” one placard read.

JKDFP chief Shabir Ahmad Shah was put under “house arrest”, police said. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has denounced attacks on the Taliban.—Reuters
