Ordinary card drawn for today’s Lahore races
LAHORE, Nov. 6: A very ordinary card of six events in the lower divisions of class VII horses has been drawn up for the mid-week Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Wednesday.
All events will be contested over the sprinting distance of six furlongs, the first to get under starter’s order at 12.30 pm.
In all, 96 horses have been declared eligible for six events after the final scratching on Saturday morning, if there are no last-minute scratchings.
The main event, the sixth and last in racing order, the Sibi Plate for class VII division IV & V combined handicap, has 16 runners, barring last-minute withdrawals. Of them four come into reckoning, namely, Afnan, Dane Hill Dancer, Iram State and Zargar.
If every thing goes his way, the three-year-old blue roan colt Afnan, who was beaten to second place by Royal Soul in his last outing on Oct 31 should make amends and win the event.
The bay colt Dane Hill Dancer, the bay filly Iram State and the chestnut colt Zargar may give Afnan some resistance before bowing out.
The chestnut mare Neptune Fancy from Neptune Court out-of-Mix Up, seems well placed in the handicap in the third race to avenge her defeat on Oct 31. If sent with a will to do so this five- year-old mare Neptune Fancy should coast to victory over her 15 rivals. Myst, Sugar Daddy and Brown Bomber may prove thorns in her way to clinch the top honours.
