PESHAWAR, Nov 6: The Taliban executed Izzatullah, the nephew of the slain Afghan commander, Abdul Haq, who was arrested along with his supporters inside Afghanistan last month.

A family member while confirming the execution of Izzatullah, 27, said that the deceased was buried in Surkhrod near Jalalabad on Monday night. He told Dawn here on Tuesday that they received the assassination message on Monday that Taliban killed him and was buried in the ancestral graveyard.

The Taliban captured commander Abdul Haq his nephew, Izzatullah along with a number of supporters between Hisarak and Azra on October 26.

Abdul Haq and another commander Haji Dauran were executed in Rishkor south of Kabul, charging them spying for America. Later the Taliban refused to hand over the bodies to their relatives and were buried in Surkhrod.

According to unconfirmed reports the Taliban arrested eight aides of commander Abdul Haq, who arrived in Peshawar soon after the execution of Abdul Haq.
