Ties with Pakistan now strained, says ex-Afghan envoy

By Our Staff Correspondent

CHAMAN, Nov 6: A former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan and chief of Shoora-i-Ulema Afghanistan, Mufti Masoom Afghani has said that his country has no more friendly relations with Pakistan which has extended support to United States.

Speaking at a press conference at Chaman Press Club on Tuesday, he said,” our friendly relations with Pakistan have ended.”

“Pakistan is supporting US terrorism against Afghanistan,” Mufti Masoom said adding that time will come when Afghanistan would make Pakistan accountable.

He warned Pakistan that United States, was not only against Afghanistan, it was also hatching conspiracies against the nuclear programme of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan should realise the situation as it was the only Islamic atomic power in the world whom US wanted to trap.

He strongly condemned the US bombing of Afghanistan and said that despite using all its resources, United States had failed to create any differences in the Taliban ranks.

He said that in the heavy bombing only innocent Afghans were being killed.

He denied the arrest of Foreign Minister Abdul Wakeel Mutawakal and Abdul Hayee Motmaeen and said that they were working on some other missions.

“US will never succeed in its plans about replacing Taliban for paving the way to bring ousted King Zahir Shah,” Mufti Masoom said. “ Zahir Shah has no more role in Afghanistan and Afghan people will not accept him,” he claimed.

He said that the United States and its allies were making efforts to remove Taliban government but they would fail in their efforts.

He declared that Taliban would never hand over Osama bin Laden to any country including United Sates. He said that Mullah Omer and Osama bin Laden were safe in Afghanistan.

Masoom Afghani claimed that during one-month war Taliban have shot down eight US aircraft and helicopters.
