MADISON (Mississippi), Nov 5: Cameron Beckman birdied three of the final five holes to win the Southern Farm Bureau Classic for his first PGA Tour victory Sunday
Beckman shot a five-under-par 67 to erase a three-shot deficit and finish the final full-field event of the season at 19-under 269.
To win his first tournament in 85 PGA Tour starts, Beckman birdied the 14th, 15th and 17th holes to grab the lead for the first time in the tournament.
Chad Campbell, led by three shots with just 10 holes to play, but bogeyed the par-four 14th and parred out finish one shot off the pace. He carded an 18-under 270.
It still was a good week for Campbell, who earned his tour card last week by finishing atop the Buy.com Tour money list. Beckman had his first win in 85 PGA Tour starts.
Beckman earned the $432,000 top prize to crack the $1m mark this season and approach the top 50 on the money list. Unlike several others at the event, Beckman didn’t have to worry about keeping his tour card.
By entering the week 80th on the money list, he did that for the first time in four tries.
Beckman had held the longest active streak of successful trips through the National Qualifying Tournament, doing it each of the previous three years.
