KARACHI: LPP quits ARD

Published November 6, 2001

KARACHI, Nov 5: The Labour Party of Pakistan on Monday parted ways with the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy.

Speaking at a press conference, the LPP leaders Ghulam Akbar, and Umer Baloch, said the decision had been taken since the ARD had failed to play an effective role for the restoration of democracy in the country.

The decision to disassociate from the ARD was taken by the national committee of the LPP at a meeting held in Hyderabad on Oct 27-28 last, they said.

The LPP leaders said, the ARD in its summit meeting held in Lahore on Sept 14-15 had taken certain decisions with regard to gearing up a struggle for the revival of democracy, but none of the decision had been implemented.—PPI
