KARACHI: Railway authorities urged to make inquiries public

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 5: The Pakistan Railways Workers Federation has asked the railways authorities to make public the inquiry reports about irregularities and corruption.

The PRWF said the railway authorities had conducted a number of inquiries into corruption and irregularities in the affairs of the Pakistan Railways and several officers and workers were charged with the malfeasance. But these inquiry reports had not been made public despite the lapse of a long time.

Secretary general of the PRWF, Manzoor Razi, maintained that the condition of the quarters in the railway colonies had deteriorated and no repair work had been initiated by the authority.

Besides, he asserted, the railways authority was also not paying attention to improve the facilities in the railways schools and hospitals for the welfare of their workers.

He suggested that the railways apartments should be constructed by using the benefit funds of the railways staff and these apartments be given to the employees’ widows and retired workers.
