Admiral’s Way bags feature event

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, Nov 4: The five-year-old bay horse Admiral’s Way outclassed his ten rivals to clinch feature event of the 9th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse Sunday.

The Kassowal Plate, a class V handicap race was the last of the six-event card of the afternoon, run over the distance of a mile. Rushing from far behind the field, Admiral’s Way collared the front-runner roan horse Green Hill about 100 metres from the winning post and then strode away to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths. The bay gelding One Man Show came staggering home to finish an exhausted third, eight lengths further away while the bay colt Crown Maker completed the frame, five lengths behind.

Admiral’s Way was ably piloted by jockey Salah-ud-Din II. The horse is trained by Haji Fazal Hadi. Admiral’s Way clocked one minute 41 1/5 seconds over the mile distance.

The victory of Admiral’s Way gave trainer Fazal Hadi a good double as he had earlier, in the opener, saddled the chestnut filly Rukhtas Again who registered a fluent win in the two-year-old maidens race.
