Polio vaccine wagon looted

SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 4: A wagon of the Health department carrying polio vaccine was looted on Sunday by four armed robbers near Qila Mir Zaman on Khanqah Dogran Road.

The wagon (SAD-6558) was on its way to various towns and villages for supplying the polio vaccine. Near Qila Mir Zaman, highwaymen intercepted the vehicle and deprived its driver Ghulam Murtaza and another employee of cash, wristwatches and other valuables. They also shot and injured Murtaza seriously for putting up resistance. He was shifted to a nearby hospital in precarious condition.

Safdarabad police are investigating.

BODY FOUND: The body of a youth was recovered from a drain adjacent to Rasoolpura locality here on Sunday.

The body, spotted by some passers-by, was later sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Iqbal of Rasoolpura. The motive behind the incident could not be known.

Police are looking into the matter.

CRUSHED: A man was crushed to death by a speeding bus on Faisalabad Road, some 28 kilometres from here, late Saturday night.

Sarfraz Ahmad of Ferozewatwan was crossing the road when he met an accident.

Bhekhi police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a thief, Boota, was electrocuted while cutting the electric wire in Rachna Town locality.

Ferozewala police have already registered several cases against the accused.
