HYDERABAD, Nov 4: The vice chancellor of Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has stressed upon the students to concentrate on their education and also participate in the co-curricular activities.
He was presiding over an inter departmental debate competition organised by the university in connection with the 7th All Pakistan Allama Iqbal Shield 2001 here on Saturday.
The topic of the debate was “the revolutionary advancement in information technology will make the formal teaching in schools/universities redundant”.
He said that without modern facilities development of the backward areas was unthinkable.
About 34 male and female students of different departments participated in the debate. The first prize, trophy and cash prize of Rs2,000 was won by Iqbal Hussain Shar, student of IBA, 2nd prize trophy and cash prize of Rs1,500 was won by Miss Ishrat Niaz Ranjhani (English department), 3rd prize trophy and cash prize of Rs1,000 was given to Miss Shumaila Iqbal Qureshi student of IBA, and the consolation prize was given to Amir Ali Buriro, student of Social Work department.
