KARACHI: Karavan ceremony today


KARACHI, Nov 4: The Karavan Karachi is hosting its acknowledgement ceremony at 4.00 p.m. at the governor’s house here on Monday. Governor of Sindh, Mohammedmian Soomro, will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The event is being organized to acknowledge the support and contribution of numerous Karachiites that helped to make the Karavan Karachi a success.

Over 4,000 school children from the government and private schools representing various communities of Karachi will be among those receiving certificates of participation.

Honoured guests belonging to different sections of the society, including showbiz personalities, celebrities, ministers, intellectuals, writers, journalists, sponsors, volunteers and the private sector companies that contributed in many different ways will be presented with the Karavan Karachi souvenirs.

The Karavan Karachi launched its activities on February 21, 2001, from the governor’s house. 100 Football tournaments were held till August 2001. Its weekly heritage streetfests were held from March 11 until the end of August this year.

Amongst the activities held under the banner of the Karavan Karachi in September were its unique inaugural carnival parade, heritage festival, theatre festival, food festival, film festival, music festival, photographic exhibition and the first ever fashion festival week and its tribute ceremony.—APP
