KARACHI, Nov 3: Hundreds of houses in Khokhrapar’s G-Area and Saudia Colony (Malir) have been receiving contaminated water for the past one week.
Residents complained that they were being supplied stinking and black- coloured water for the past one week, but the KWSB’s officials concerned had not taken any step to remove the fault responsible for it. They had so far remained unmoved despite several complaints made to them.
Suspecting that sewage water might be seeping into a leaking pipeline near Khokhrapar’s Mohammedi Market, residents said: “Since we are constantly being supplied stinking water we have no choice but either to fetch water in buckets from far-flung areas or to drink sub-soil unhygienic water at the cost of our health.”
They demanded of the city Nazim and the KWSB managing director to order the officials concerned to immediately help remove the fault, otherwise dangerous water-borne diseases might spread, in an epidemic form, in a vast area of Khokhrapar and Saudabad.
SHORTAGE: An acute shortage of water persists in various sectors of Khokhrapar (Malir), Landhi, Nazimabad No 3, different sectors of North Karachi, New Karachi’s Sector 5-E and Bahadurabad No 3.
Residents of Nazimabad, Bahadurabad and Khokhrapar complained that water shortage problem had become a matter of routine in their localities for a long time, but the officials concerned of the KWSB seemed to be least interested in the solution of this vital problem.
They demanded of the KWSB managing director to help restore normal water supply as they could not afford to buy costly private water tankers.
