NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Nov 2: The activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz took out a rally and marched from Al-Kausar Chowk to Tharushah Chowk here on Friday.

Led by Mohammad Shafiq Arejo, the participants of the rally were chanting slogans against the acute water shortage in Sindh and arrest of their party chief Basheer Khan Qureshi and his deputy Dr Niaz Kalani.

The protesters demanded immediate release of their leaders.

HUNGER STRIKE: About 30 workers of Food Department observed token hunger strike and staged protest sit-in outside the district food controller office here against the non-payment of salaries of the temporary employees for four months.

The protesters were led by the president of food employees federation Younus Rajpar.

SUICIDE BID: A 28-year-old villager Mohammad Ismail tried to commit suicide by taking pesticide over some domestic problem in village Mithi Awala near Tharushah on Friday.

He was admitted to PMC hospital here.

CONVICTED: District and Session Judge, Naushahro Feroze, Mr Mohammad Ishaq Memon, awarded two-year imprisonment and Rs2000 fine to Mir Khan Chandio and Sikandar Kalhoro the other day.

They were arrested by the Tharushah excise police and charas was recovered from their possession.
