HYDERABAD, Nov 2: About three dozen food grain godown employees under the banner of CBA union staged protest demonstration at Hali Road godowns here on Friday against the non-acceptance of the workers’ demands.

Speaking at the rally, Ghulam Sher Soomro, Nazeer Memon, and others said that the temporary watchmen of Food Department were being paid only Rs920 per month which was great injustice.

They said that even this meagre salary had not been paid to the poor watchmen for the last four months.

They announced that the union activists will stage hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club on Saturday to press for the acceptance of their demands.

TRANSPORT COMMITTEE: The first meeting of the transport committee of Sindh University was held on Friday.

It was presided over by the committee’s convener Dr. Kazi Khadim Hussain, dean, Faculty of Arts.

The meeting discussed transport facilities for the students.

It decided that the route numbers and the name plates of the routes will be displayed on the front portion of the university buses to facilitate the students.

It also decided that the number of the buses will be checked daily by the committee in the morning and afternoon and enhancement or reduction of buses on particular routes will be recommended according to requirement.

The meeting advised the students that in case of any problem relating to point busses they should contact or send their suggestion in writing to the convener of the committee.
