KARACHI, Nov 2: A man who had been injured in a quarrel over a money dispute in Rizvia Society on Wednesday died in a hospital on late Thursday night.
Police said Zaheer Ahmed, aged 45, a commercial painter, was attacked and injured by Waheed after an argument in an eating-house in Gulbahar on Wednesday, Oct 31.
Zaheer was admitted to Civil Hospital where he died. The suspect, Waheed, was absconding, police said.
ROAD ACCIDENTS: Two men died in road accidents in the city.
A boy was run over by an unidentified vehicle near Cattle Colony in Quaidabad. Sources at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) said Mohammed Ramzan, aged 17, was knocked down by a vehicle on Friday morning, and was admitted to the hospital where he died in the evening.
A man who had been injured in a road accident on late Thursday night died in the JPMC on Friday. Police said Shahid Mahmood, aged 37, fell from his scooter when it skidded off the road near the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. He was admitted to the JPMC where he died.
CARJACKING: Nine vehicles — four cars and five motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, police said.
Two cars were hijacked in Frere and Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Two other were stolen in Buffer Zone and New Town.
The motorcycles were stolen in City Courts, Saddar, Preedy, Baghdadi and Buffer Zone.
Police also claimed on Friday to have recovered eight vehicles in the city.
ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in the city on Friday, police said.
Four men robbed Mohammed Naeem of cash in Mithadar police limits.
Mohammed Nadeem lodged a complaint at Saeedabad police station that three armed men snatched cash from him.
Three bandits barged into Samaat Sufia’s house in Korangi and got away with jewellery and other valuables.
INJURED: A young housewife suffered burns in her house in Steel Town. She was admitted to the Burns Ward in Civil Hospital. Sources at the hospital said Bashiran, aged 30, suffered 80 per cent burns. She was in a critical condition.
MISSING: An activist of the Pakistan People’s Party has been missing for the past several days. According to a statement issued by the PPP’s Karachi secretariat on Friday, the activist, Aas Mohammed Tanoli, was being victimized by the government. The statment said the activist’s brother Mohammed Asif Tanoli was being frequently called at the area police station, where he was questioned about the whereabouts of his brother.
