D. I. Khan budget approved

DERA  ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 1: District government budget for the year 2001-02 was unanimously approved here on Thursday morning in the budget session held at district auditorium. No cut motion was brought before the house by any member.

The session was conducted by the convener, Inayatullah  Khan Miankhel. More than 40 members from ruling group including  12 lady councillors, were present on the occasion.

Although the opposition had decided to observe a total boycott of  the budget session still some opposition members were also present in the hall.

At the beginning, convener invited the members to the dais to start discussion on budget but  none  of the members came up.

Later, the speaker adjourned the session for indefinite period.

The salient features of this budget are:

Revenue: Opening balance: Rs.7,88,00,000/- Grant from Provincial Government: Rs.82,72,78,363/- Income from local sources: Rs.1,64,00,000/- Arrears of previous year: Rs.12,00,000/-

Total Revenue: Rs.92,36,78,383/-

Expenditure: Revenue expenditure: Rs.66,84,27,383/- Liabilities: Rs.40,00,000/- Development expenditure: Rs.24,54,51,000/-

Total: Rs: 91,78,78,323/-

Closing balance at the end of year: Rs.58,00,000/-

Two long  awaited incomplete projects have been included in this budget. Rs: 30 millions were allocated for the completion of 200 bed Divisional Headquarter Hospital Dera Ismail Khan which is lying incomplete since the termination of Benazir’s government.

More Rs.14.508  million were allocated for the completion of Gomal Medical College and as such, Rs.44.508 million have been allocated to health sector.

Bridge on Looni Nullah in Kulachi remained  incomplete during every past government.

In the present budget, Rs.50,00,000/- were allocated for  the completion of this bridge.
