By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 31: Khanqah Dogran police on Wednesday arrested the conductor of a mini-bus which led to an accident on Tuesday that had killed five people and injured as many on the Motorway, some 40 kilometres from here.

The driver of the bus is still at large.

It may be mentioned that SSP central vice-president Sheikh Hakim Ali along with his companions was on his way to Lahore from Islamabad by a car after attending a court proceeding. Near Khanqah Dogran, another car from the rear hit Sheikh Hakim’s car which led to an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles. In the meantime, a speeding mini-bus on its way to Lahore crashed into cars already parked in the motorway lane. Five riders of two cars died on the spot and as many sustained critical injuries.

The dead were identified as Pervaiz, Tehsin Ghani, Yasin Ghani, their grandmother Zainab Bibi of Faisalabad and Sheikh Hakim’s driver, Pervaiz. The injured, including Sheikh Hakim Ali, Idris Ghani and Saquib Younas, were rushed to the DHQ Hospital, Sheikhupura. However, the SSP leader had been later shifted to a Lahore hospital for his serious condition.
