Case against five policemen: Death in custody

KASUR, Oct 31: On the order of the Lahore High Court, a case has been registered against the Ilahabad SHO and four others for killing an alleged criminal in custody and injuring another.

Ashiq told police he had committed a number of crimes along with two accomplices, Hanif and Sharif, of Harappa. A police party, headed by Ilahabad ASI Rashid Ahmad, arrested Hanif and Sharif from Harappa on Oct 20.

The police were escorting both of them to Ilahabad when they reportedly tried to snatch arms from policemen near Kodey Sial village. But the police fired at them, killing Hanif instantly and injuring Sharif.

The Ilahabad police later registered an encounter case against the culprits.

The heirs of the deceased submitted a writ petition in the High Court, and on its order a case was registered against SHO inspector Ejaz Ahmad Khan, ASI Rashid Ahmad, head-constable Muhammad Ashraf and two constables, Meraj Din and Liaquat Ali.

WATER THEFT CASES: Ilahabad police have registered water theft cases against nine farmers on the report of the Kasur canal SDO.

LOOTED: Dacoits looted cash and valuables from a house in Kot Usman Khan, Kasur city, on Wednesday.

Kasur district council official Mubarak was in his office when three dacoits burst into his house, held up the inmates and made away with cash and jewellery.

A-Division police are investigating.

ABDUCTED: A girl was abducted by five vagabonds from her house on the College Road here on Wednesday.

Five persons, including Wajid Ali, entered the house of Sarwar in his absence and took away his daughter forcibly with them. They also took away cash and gold ornaments from the house.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
