HYDERABAD, Oct 31: The Tajran Maweshian Welfare Association (cattle merchants welfare association) has strongly protested against the alleged excesses of the highway police and said that trucks loaded with cattle were being penalised on one or the other pretext.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, the leaders of the association, Baloch Khan Lashari, Haji Noor Muhammad and Sher Khan Jamali, claimed that they were not violating any rule yet each truck was being challaned and fined Rs500.

They appealed to the higher authorities to take notice of the alleged highhandedness of the highway police.

They warned that if this harassment was not stopped, they will not transport any animal to Karachi and stage protest demonstration on the Super Highway.

Sindh Employees Alliance: The Sindh Employees Alliance (SEA) has decided to observe complete strike in all the educational institutions of Sindh on Nov 6, and all the government offices will be locked up on that day.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the working committee of the Alliance held at the Government Sachal Sarmast Arts and Commerce College here on Wednesday.

Intizar Chhalgari presided over the meeting.

The meeting expressed regrets over the indifferent attitude of the Sindh government towards the government employees. The meeting observed that instead of resolving the problems of government employees and teachers, they were being harassed.

The meeting was addressed by Professor Liaquat Aziz, Ghulam Mustafa Soho, Amanullah Shah, Amanullah Teeghani, Mubarak Kaimkhani and others.

The meeting resolved to hold protest meetings in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Mithi, Thatta, Badin and Dadu.

It was further decided to hold a meeting of the supreme council of the alliance on Nov 23, to evolve further strategy for the resolution of the problems of government servants.

JSSF ACTIVISTS: A group of students of the Sindh University, Jamshoro, belonging to the Jeay Sindh Students Federation, staged a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club here on Wednesday against the arrest of JSSF leader Abdur Razzak Tunio.
