KARACHI: Carjackers shoot Salesman to death: Nine vehicles taken away

KARACHI, Oct 31: A salesman was shot dead by carjackers in North Nazimabad on Wednesday morning.

Shakil Ahmed, 35, had arrived at a general store at Al-Amin Apartments in Block A North Nazimabad and when was disembarking from the vehicle, three armed men approached him and tried to hijack the vehicle (KF-7885).

As Shakil tried to resist them, they opened fire and escaped.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the MLO. The victim had received three bullet wounds in the chest and abdomen.

The victim was a resident of Husain D’Silva Town and had three children.

ACCIDENT: A minor girl died in a road accident near People’s Secretariat roundabout on Wednesday night.

Police said Afshan, was going along with her parents on a motorcycle when a Quetta-bound coach (QAJ-1041) knocked them down.

The family was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where she was died.

While her injured parents were provided treatment, police said that errant driver of the coach escaped from the spot.

Police claimed to have impounded the coach and arrested the conductor of the vehicle.

ELECTROCUTED: At least two persons were electrocuted on Wednesday.

A young man, Ghulam Rasool, was electrocuted in Nazimabad while working on an electrical appliance in his house.

Arshad Hussain, 22, was electrocuted in Mominabad while he was fixing an electric motor.

SUICIDE: A housewife committed suicide by hanging herself in Saeedabad on Wednesday.

Najma, 25, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her home in Sector 4-F, Saeedabad.

Police said the motive behind the suicide could not be immediately known.

The body was sent to the Civil Hospital for postmortem.

HOLDUPS: Three holdups were committed on Wednesday in the city.

The bandits entered the house of Liaquat in Pak Colony, held the family hostage, scooped the cash and valuables and got away with the loot.

The house of Rab Nawaz was raided by the thugs who collected cash and valuables and fled.

Rajab was confronted by the dacoits in Liaquatabad who robbed him of cash and fled with the loot.

FREED: A drug addict was freed from the custody of police in Sharafi Goth on Wednesday.

Banaras was strolling in the Sharafi Goth when he was picked up by the police on suspicion.

As the police was escorting him to the police station, the supporters of Banaras allegedly attacked the police party, and got Banaras freed from the clutches of police and disappeared. The police declined to give further details.

CARJACKINGS: At least nine vehicle — five cars and four motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in various parts of the city, police said.

The cars were taken away in Defence, Darakhshan, PIB Colony, Brigade and Gulberg and their numbers were ADL-724; ACS-667; ADW-790; ACN-961; ABU-107.

The four motorcycles — KAQ-4258; KAP-3568; KCT-9214; KCT-4559 were taken away by bandits in Korangi, Preedy, Sir Syed Town Sharafi Goth.

Police claimed to have recovered four vehicles.
