KARACHI: Food, fun for child prisoners on Nov 7

KARACHI, Oct 31: For the first time, children lodged in Central Jail will be treated to fun and food on Nov 7, as part of the “Food for Special Children” programme by social worker and noted artist, Jimmy Engineer.

Under the programme, being carried out in cooperation with the Pakistan Hotels Association, a number of hotels and restaurants have earlier hosted lunches for special children.

Mr Engineer and PHA Chairman, Syed Arshad Ali, said that Ilyas Kushtiwala, owner of a hotel, has offered to provide the food for children at Central Jail, whereas ice cream and soft drinks manufacturers have undertaken the task of serving refreshments.

Jimmy said that during the programme, which would continue from 11am to 3pm, the female inmates would also be served food inside their barracks.

The PHA chief said that children would also be provided milk and biscuits, besides organizing various games and a puppet show. Clowns will be present for entertainment as well.

Artiste Farzana Naz will entertain the children with songs.

After Funland, where some 5,000 special children were entertained, the programme at Central Jail will be the biggest one.—APP
