KARACHI: Honours course in bio-tech


KARACHI, Oct 30: An honours programme in biotechnology is being initiated at the University of Karachi from the next academic session commencing from January 1 next year.

This was announced by chairman of the Department of Biotechnology, Dr Abid Azhar, on Tuesday.

He said the three-year B.Sc. honours course was the only programme of its kind to be offered anywhere in the country.

He said that this programme was unique in the sense that the students were not required to study two optional minor subjects. Instead, all related courses such as biotechnology, chemistry, computer applications, genetics, mathematics, microbiology, molecular biology, physiology would be taught at the department.

Students in HSC pre-engineering and pre-medial groups are eligible for admissions. The admission forms for the programme are available at the designated branches of the banks and can be deposited in the same branches by November 10.

FORMS AND FEE: The University of Karachi has announced that the examination forms and fee for Diploma in Diagnostic Laboratory Sciences (D.D.L.S), Part-I& Part-II, Annual Examination 2001, will be accepted till Nov 13, 2001. Students have been directed to submit their exam forms along with Rs1400.

University of Karachi has also announced that examination forms and fee for the candidates of the School of Physiotherapy, Jinnah Post Medical College (JPMC) and Liquat National Hospital (LNH) of the Second & Third Year B.S Physiotherapy (New Course), Annual Examination 2001, will be accepted till Nov 12,2001.—APP/PPI
