KARACHI: Conductors told to keep watch on miscreants

KARACHI, Oct 29: The DCO Karachi held a meeting with the transport and communication department of the city government, police and transporters here on Monday to discuss ways and means to prevent incidents of terrorism in public transport.

The meeting decided that drivers and conductors of buses/ minibuses would keep a vigil on commuters and can conduct physical checking of suspicious persons and baggage. The transporters have been asked to tell their drivers and conductors to keep a watch on mischievous elements.

The civil defence department of the city government was asked to coordinate with transporters in the formulation of a programme to educate commuters on the general practices used by terrorists in order to detect and inform police at the first sight of suspicious-looking objects.—PPI
