KARACHI: Exam schedules for schools announced


KARACHI, Oct 29: The Sindh Education Department has decided that annual examinations for 6th to 8th classes will be held from Jan 15 to Feb 28, 2002, and their results will be announced up to March 20.

According to an official of the department, a decision to this affect was taken in a meeting of the heads of all the educational boards in the province, EDOs, Education, with secretary of education, Nazar Hussain Mehar, in the chair.

The SSC exams will commence from March 1 to 15, throughout the province simultaneously, while their results will be announced up to July 31.

Accordingly, the HSC exams will start from April 1, by all the intermediate educational boards in the province simultaneously and their results would be declared up to Aug 15.

The meeting also decided that summer vacations in all the educational institutions would start from June 15 to July 31, whereas winter vacations would start from Dec 25 to Jan 2, 2003.

The education secretary directed all the principals of colleges and head masters/headmistresses to send attendance of students to the concerned board or universities every week, instead of every month.

The students having less than 75 per cent attendance would not be allowed to participate in the exams, he reiterated.—PPI
