LAHORE, Oct 28: The outgoing Punjab Governor, Lt-Gen Muhammad Safdar (retired), was given a warm send-off by the members of the provincial cabinet and senior officials at the Governor’s House here on Sunday afternoon.

Gen Safdar who was presented a shield by Punjab Chief Secretary Imtiaz Masrur, and his family later left for Rawalpindi in a special plane.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Falak Sher also called on the outgoing governor who thanked the staff of the Governor’s House for their cooperation during his two-year tenure.

Talking to the provincial ministers and the senior officials, Safdar said his replacement by an able and experienced person was heartening for him. He hoped that the new governor would handle the affairs in the province with hard work and determination.

He said it was a matter of pride for him to serve the Punjab for two years. The memories of the tenure would always remain fresh in his mind, he said.

Gen Safdar praised the services and cooperation of the civil officers regarding the development and prosperity of the province and service to the people.

He also thanked the support and guidance by President Gen Pervez Musharraf and cooperation by the army authorities and the monitoring teams.
