KARACHI, Oct 27:National Bank defeated Habib Bank 3-2 in a practice match at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium Saturday to test new rules of FIH.

Trial match was witnessed by former Olympians Shahnaz Shaikh, Iftikhar Syed, Qamar Ibrahim and Ahmed Alam.

Member of FIH rule board and Olympian Islahuddin informed the media that he would be preparing the report of his observations, and that of his fellow Olympians and submit it to Pakistan Hockey Federation which will forward it to FIH.

During the match three new rules were tried that include extension of goal scoring area to 23 yards.

During trial all defenders were required to stand on the goal line as they do during the short corners on long corners.

At no point of time more than eight defenders were allowed to remain in the 25 line area in the match.

These rules are being tried on the instruction of FIH rules board headed by Brig. (Retd) M.H. Atif before these are discussed and presented in the rule board meeting in future.—APP
