KARACHI: Old books’ bazaar at Frere Hall

KARACHI, Oct 27: The old books’s bazaar which was shifted from Frere Hall six months ago will again be held from this Sunday at the same venue, on the order of the city nazim.

The bazaar will be held from 11am to midnight.

The culture department of the defunct KMC had been organizing the bazaar at Frere Hall since February till it was shifted, in May, to Baradari.

At Frere Hall the bazaar was visited by a large number of booklovers from all areas, income and age groups. However, the KMC authorities ordered its shifting from Frere Hall, for reasons best known to them, to Baradari, where in the past six months the number of visitors shrank drastically.

At Frere Hall there used to be 52 stalls, but at Baradari it came down to just five on last Sunday.

Taking notice of this state of affairs, the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, ordered that the bazaar be shifted back to Frere Hall to help promote the reading habit.—APP
