KARACHI: Working of medical units reviewed


KARACHI, Oct 27: DCO Karachi, Shafiq ur Rehman Paracha, held a meeting with the health department of the city government to review the working of its medical units operating in various areas of Karachi.

EDO health Dr Ali Nawaz Shaikh informed the meeting that improvement was being made at medical units which were either non-functional or in depleting conditions when they were handed over to the city government

He said that doctors had been posted at dispensaries in Mauripur and Garrison Mauripur and other necessary requirements had been fulfilled to provide medical facilities to the residents of these areas.

He said that the Mauripur dispensary had not been operative since the completion of its building it was fully functional now and one male and one female doctor had been posted there.

He said the dispensary at Garrison Mauripur which had been inoperative for a long time due to shortage of doctors and staff had also been made functional with the posting of one lady doctor and necessary paramedical staff there.

The EDO informed that renovation work at the rural health centre at SherShah had been completed, however an ambulance and other emergency equipments were needed.

Other officers of the health department were also present at the meeting.—PPI.
