Kiran shines in swimming pool

KARACHI, Oct 26: Pakistan clinched three gold, two silver and 12 bronze medals on the opening day of the swimming competitions of the 3rd Islamic Countries Women’s Solidarity Games in Tehran.

According to an incomplete message from Pakistan Women’s Amateur Swimming Association (PWASA) Friday, Kiran Khan excelled in the pool bagging golds in 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle in 11-12 age group.

Sana Wahid, besides winning four bronzes, won the gold in 200m freestyle in 17 plus age group.

Natasha Riaz and Ayesha Tajwar scooped up silver medals in 100m breaststroke and 50m butterfly in the 15-17 age group.

RESULTS:

11-12 age group:

100m backstroke: Kiran Khan (gold); 100m freestyle: Kiran Khan (gold); 100m breaststroke: Kiran Khan (bronze); 50m backstroke: Kiran Khan (bronze)

13-14 age group:

100m backstroke: Rema Qureshi (bronze); 100m breaststroke: Mehrunnissa Khan (bronze); 4x100m freestyle relay [Kiran, Mahwish, Rema, Mehrunnissa] (bronze)

15-17 age group:

100m breaststroke: Natasha Riaz (silver); 100m freestyle: Ayesha Tajwar (bronze); 200m freestyle: Ayesha Tajwar (bronze); 50m butterfly: Ayesha Tajwar (silver); 200m individual medley: Natasha Riaz (bronze)

17 plus age group:

200m freestyle: Sana Wahid (gold); 50m backstroke: Sana Wahid (bronze); 200m breaststroke: Sana Wahid (bronze); 100m freestyle: Sana Wahid (bronze); 100m butterfly: Sana Wahid (bronze).
