ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: Daud Jan of Navy was adjudged the best marksman of the Islamabad Open Shooting Championship for winning three events and setting a national record.

Daud won the air rifle, 60-shot prone and 3X position events to take the award and help Navy win the championship at the newly-built shooting range at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

Daud created the record in the 3X position event of the championship that also witnessed three other records being shattered with the honours going to Navy’s Ms Nazish Khan who set new marks in the air rifle competition and the prone event and Zahid Ali (Navy) in the standard pistol event.

For her fine efforts, Nazish was declared the best woman shooter of the championship which was also attended by Army, Air Force, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP.

The Navy shooters dominated the championship in which they claimed nine out of the total 13 events while they were second in eight of them.

National Rifle Association of Pakistan organised the championship.

Big bore: Khalid (Navy), Cdr. Idrees (Navy), Munir Masih (Navy).

Air rifle: (men)-Daud Jan (Navy), Mushtaq (Army), Siddique (Army).

Air pistol: (men)-M. Abbas (Army), Maj. Idrees (Army), Irshad Ali (Navy).

Skeet: Khurrum Inam (Sindh), RM Shafique (Navy), Amin Karamat (Sindh).

Rapid fire pistol: Imran Ali (Navy), Afsar Khan (Army), Kashif (Navy).

Air rifle (women): Ms Nazish Khan (Navy, new national record), Ms Urooj Fatima (Navy), Lt. Abida (Army).

Free pistol match: Muhammad Boota (Army), M. Abbas (Army), Tariq Manzoor (Navy).

60 shot prone (men): Daud Jan (Navy), Waseem (Army), Ayaz Tahir (Navy).

3X position match: Daud Jan (Navy, new national record), Firdous Khan (Navy), MUshtaq Ahmed (Army).

Centre fire pistol match: Zahid Ali (Navy), Lt. Cdr Arshad Awan (Navy), Afsar Khan (Army).

Prone (women): Ms Nazish Khan (Navy, new national record), Ms Nadia Saeed (Navy), Ms Urooj Fatima (Navy).

Standard pistol: Zahid Ali (Navy, new national record), Irshad ALi (Navy), Lt. Cdr. Arshad Awan (Navy).
