Rs834m Kohat dist budget approved
KOHAT, Oct 26: The district assembly approved a budget of Rs834.181 million for 2001-02 with a non developmental expenditure of Rs607.266 million and developmental allocations of Rs226.881 million, mainly in the education, health and irrigation sectors.
The budget also includes Rs22 million from the 2000-01 Khushal Pakistan Programme phase-II, which lapsed last year. The assembly unanimously agreed to distribute the amount plus Rs38 million allocated under phase-III of the programme among the 27 union councils on parity basis.
Each union council will get Rs2.2 million to select development schemes of their priority.
The spending under the envisaged development plan for education, water and health sectors would be: education, Rs11.39 million; health, Rs9.89 million and water schemes Rs10.13 million.
The allocations are apart from the expenditure on the ongoing schemes. Salaries would consume Rs468.180 million.
According to the budget, Rs165 million would be spent on the ongoing development schemes, whereas Rs45.870 million have been allocated for new projects identified by the district assembly.
The district Nazim said that 310,000 would benefit from the schemes and 4,797 would get employment.
He said an IT university and a boys degree college would be established. Government high school, Kachai, would be upgraded to higher secondary school level, he said. He said two dams, in Gandiali and Fateh Khan, and nine water supply and sanitation schemes had been approved.
