ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has condemned the Israeli forces incursion into a Palestinian village in a hunt for the suspected killers of tourism minister Rehavan Zeevi.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the PPP chairperson said the world community must force Israel to stop the violence in the Middle East. Israel should withdraw its troops from the Palestinian-controlled territories and stop the bloodshed, she added.

“The international community must wake up to its responsibility to bring to an end this violence and mayhem,” the former prime minister said.

She called upon the United Nations (UN) to dispatch a peace keeping force to the area.

Meanwhile, the PPP acting secretary-general, Mian Raza Rabbani, condemned the government attitude and its refusal to renew Ms Bhutto’s passport terming it ‘victimization’ and denial of basic rights.

Talking to journalists on Friday, he said renewal of passport was a legitimate right of every citizen of the country.

He said, “Ms Bhutto contacted the Pakistan High Commissioner in London for renewal of her passport, but after the passage of 19 days she has not yet received it,” he said.

He contended that instead of issuance of passport, Ms Bhutto was told that her case was under consideration by the chief executive office.

He said Asif Ali Zardari, a former senator and husband of Ms Bhutto had also been victimized. Similarly, Mian Arshad, a PPP activist from Lahore was the victim of custodial killing, he added.
