KARACHI: Desecration of Mazar condemned

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 26: The coordination committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement has demanded of President Pervez Musharraf to take notice of Wednesday’s rowdy incidents and clashes between the police and demonstrators near Numaish Chowrangi.

In a statement, it condemned the ransacking of police check post, vehicles and property, including some portion of the Quaid’s mausoleum, by a group of protesters.

The committee said that the police and the administration failed to take cognizance of the culprits and acted as silent spectators.

Meanwhile, the Servants of Pakistan Society has urged the government to give exemplary punishment to those responsible for desecration of mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam, adds APP.

In a statement on Friday the secretary general of the society, Syed Abdul Bari Jilani, condemned the desecration of Quaid’s Mazar by some protesters. He said that the people responsible for such type of acts could not be patriotic Pakistani.
