Five-goal Haseeb shines

ISLAMABAD, Oct 25: Bahawalpur Zone pipped Rawalpindi Zone 6-6 1/2 Wednesday in the Army Polo Championship at the Rawalpindi Race course.

Capt Haseeb Minhas played a star role for Bahawalpur with five goals which came in the first, third and fourth chukkers while Capt Shehryar Munir scored once.

Dfd. Ahmed Khan who netted thrice took the scoring honours for Rawalpindi. Others on the list were Lt. Col Shoaib Aftab who had brace with Maj Gen Khalid Naeem striking once.

Both sides finished with six goals each but Bahawalpur won, having a 1/2 goal advantage.

Rawalpindi A hammered Rawalpindi B in a low goal match 10-2- 1/2. Swr. Mali Khan and Maj. Muhammad Kamran Aslam stood out with three goals each with Lt. Col Abdul Wahid Khan and Capt Atif Khan putting in two apiece for the A team.

Brig. Ulfat was the lone scorer for the B side who finished with 2-1/2 goals, an advantage of 1-1/2.
