LAHORE, Oct 25: The Lahore High Court disposed of a writ petition moved by painter-calligrapher Aslam Kamal on Thursday with the direction that all future editions of Contemporary Paintings of Pakistan will include his works.
The petitioner said his name and works were deliberately excluded from all Golden Jubilee publications and celebrations by the Pakistan People’s Party government in 1996 because of his being a votary of Islamic art and culture. He said he was an internationally recognized artist and had received the Pride of Performance award in 1992, yet he was ignored and former chief minister and speaker Hanif Ramay was projected by the anniversary publications.
