KARACHI: Fire erupts in godown

KARACHI, Oct 25: A major fire broke out in a godown in Lyari on Thursday noon, which was put out in the evening by the fire brigade.

A large quantity of silk was gutted in the fire in a godown in Baghdadi. A spark flew up and landed on a bag of silk when boys were playing with firecrackers in the congested locality.

No one was injured in the fire. The loss of property could not be estimated immediately. As many as 22 fire tenders took part in the fire-fighting operation, the fire brigade said.

In another fire incident in the evening, an empty poultry farm in Federal B- Area was gutted.

The fire brigade said that an abandoned poultry farm situated in Ziaul Haque Colony in Block 9 of Federal B-Area was gutted by fire. The cause of the fire and scale of financial damage could not be known immediately.
