HYDERABAD: Warrant against SHO

Published October 26, 2001

HYDERABAD, Oct 25: A division bench of Sindh High Court Hyderabad circuit here on Wednesday issued non-bailable warrants against SHO Khipro police station through DIG Police Hyderabad Range as well as a show cause notice, requiring him to explain why action should not be taken against him for showing contempt of the court.

The bench comprising Justice Shabbir Ahmed and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali passed the order on a criminal revision application filed by one Muzaffar Ali Qureshi.

The bench took serious notice of the absence of the SHO despite issuance of notice to him, and called for his appearance before the court with relevant record of FIR no 46 of Khipro police station which was lodged under section 9-Narcotics Act.

The applicant said that his car (ACF-600) was impounded by Khipro police after the police claimed that they had recovered charas from the car and five-persons, who were riding the vehicle, fled from the scene despite chase by the police.

He informed the court that prior to this the same car was impounded by Shahdadpur police in crime no 69/2000 and he filed an application before the court in Tando Adam, requesting the court to release the car.

He said that the SHO Shahdadpur police station was hostile towards him and was threatening to arrest him.

He alleged that at the instigation of SSP Sanghar the police adopted aggressive attitude towards him as they wanted him to be witness in crime no 69/2001 of which he had no knowledge nor he was accused in the case.

He claimed that after the car was handed over to his son, it was snatched by Sanghar police and shown in crime no 46/2001 by Khipro police in order to pressurize him to bow before the police.

He said that his client’s car was being misused by the police and added that the car was no more needed by police.

The court on October 17 had directed SHOs of Shahdadpur and Khipro police to appear before the court on Wednesday.

The SHO Khipro did not turn-up to the court.

Next hearing was fixed for Monday.
