MULTAN, Oct 24: As many as 199 secondary schoolteachers in six districts of the Punjab will be given the selection grade.
This was decided in a meeting of district education officers in Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Khanewal, Sahiwal and Pakpattan.
It was disclosed 90 male and 109 female teachers would be given selection grade 17. The meeting earlier decided to give grade 17 to 192 male and 73 female teachers on Monday.
The number of teachers has now enhanced to 282 male and 182 female.
SHOT DEAD: Two persons were shot dead and as many policemen sustained injuries in different incidents during the last 24 hours.
Eight armed dacoits entered the commission agency of Hassan Bashir in Sandha Colony, Tiba Sultanpur, some 50km from here, on Tuesday night. They held all three persons hostage and were looting them when police reached there and opened fire on dacoits. The intruders also retaliated and seriously injured ASI Shaukat and constable Muhammad Shafiq. They were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital where their condition was stated to be critical. The dacoits however managed to escape with the booty worth Rs0.25 million.
Tiba Sultan police have registered a case.
Five gunmen barged into the house of Ghulam Ahmad near Chowk Metla, held the inmates hostage and started collecting valuables. They shot dead Ghulam Ahmad for putting up resistance and made good their escape.
In Kehror Pucca, Muhammad Sadiq was allegedly shot dead by his cousins Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Razaq near Chowk Balocha when he was on way home by his motorcycle.—Nouman
