KARACHI: North Karachi hospital plan needs funds


KARACHI, Oct 24: Sindh Minister of Health Maj-Gen Ehsan Ahmed (retd) visited on Wednesday the under-construction 200-bed Children Hospital in North Karachi, and asked for its early completion.

The minister was accompanied by the Secretary Health, Khalid Latif, the additional secretary health, director-general health, chief engineer communication and works department and other officials concerned.

The minister was informed that the hospital, spread over 18 acres, was started in 1996 with an estimated cost of Rs115.5 million. So far Rs51m had been spent on it, and it needed Rs7.65m to start only the Out Patient Department. He was told that the project would be completed as soon as funds were made available.

The minister went round the under-construction hospital, and expressed his satisfaction over the quality of work.—PPI
