Wapda set PIA tough target

KARACHI, Oct 23: PIA will begin their quest for an unlikely victory on final day Wednesday after Wapda set them a challenging target of 322 in their Patron’s Trophy Grade-I fixture at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad Tuesday.

Wapda were dismissed for 185 in their second innings shortly before stumps on the third evening, says a message here.

Shoaib Khan followed his unbeaten 79 in the first innings with top-score of 52 in the second.

Medium-pacers Nadeem Afzal and Ali Gohar did most of the damage by picking five for 51 and four for 31 respectively.

PIA captain Moin Khan claimed four catches Tuesday to finish with a haul of nine in the match.

Earlier, Wapda obtained a first innings lead of 136 after bowling out PIA for 195. The national carriers’ last three wickets mustered just 27 runs as Mahmood Hamid was left stranded on 29 not out.

Pacers Raees Amjad claimed four for 64 while Faisal Irfan took three for 32.
