SUKKUR: Seven houses gutted in fire

SUKKUR, Oct 23: Seven houses and household items worth rupees hundreds of thousands were gutted in Makan Kori village of district Ghotki when fire broke out in the area the other night.

The residents of the village were sleeping when suddenly fire broke out and engulfed the entire village before it could be extinguished.

Seven houses including the household items worth hundreds of thousands rupees were turned to ashes. However no loss of life was reported.

The gutted house belonged to Haji Rahim Dad, Khuda Bukhsh, Mangal Khan, Ali Sher, Ghulam Serwer Lashari and others.

People of the village and adjacent ones rushed to the site and controlled the fire on self help basis.

No official came to the village till the filing of this report and the affected people were sitting under the sky.

Residents of neighbouring villages arranged the food for the affected persons.

The villagers told newsmen that timely information of the fire was given but no fire tender reached the site till morning.
