Woman burnt to death

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 22: A man allegedly killed his wife with the help of his mother and sister in Goharpur near Mandi Faizabad on Monday.

Shopkeeper Sharif had married Shukria 10 years ago. Now he wanted to marry another woman but issusless Shukria put up resistance.

Early on Monday, Sharif tied his wife’s hands and feet with rope, sprinkled kerosene oil on her and set her on fire with the help of his mother and sister.

Neighbours came to her rescue when Shukria raised alarm. They took her to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her burn injuries.

Faizabad police registered the case against Sharif, his mother and sister.

DACOITY: Four dacoits injured two people on resistance, snatched cash and took away a car from Sharaqpur Road on Monday.

According to details, Rashid Ahmad and his friend were intercepted by four armed men near a factory. The dacoits shot at and injured Rashid and his friend on resistance. The dacoits deprived them of the cash and took away the car (LEU 160).

Their condition at a local hospital was stated to be critical.

ACCIDENT: A passer-by was killed in a road incident near Mirza Virkan on Monday.

Younas, 25, was walking along a road when a speeding tractor-trolley hit and killed him.

Police registered a case against the tractor driver who escaped with his vehicle.
