Published October 23, 2001

NAWABSHAH, Oct 22: The people of Nawabshah are facing a lot of difficulties due to non-availability of clean drinking water.

People from different localities told this correspondent that since long they were receiving polluted and stinking drinking water mixed with draining water.

They said that they had made several complaints to the concerned officials but they had failed to improve the situation.

The people showed anger towards the district government for non-supply of clean drinking water.

They feared that due to dirty water, risk of spread of water-borne diseases had increased as the cases of gastroenteritis were on the rise in the city.

They demanded of the district Nazim Faryal Talpur and DCO Mehmood Ahmed Khan to take personal interest in restoring the supply of clean and pure drinking water to people of Nawabshah and surrounding areas.

Gharibabad, Society, Manuabad, Azim Colony, Taj Colony, Mehran Colony, Qazi Ahmed Turn, Mohni Bazaar, Line Par and Bhangwar Colony are among the worst hit areas.

BODY FOUND: Body of an unidentified man, aged around 55 years, was found from Peshawar bound Tezro express at Nawabshah railway station on Sunday.

It was handed over to Edhi volunteers who sent it to the PMCH for post-mortem.
