RAWALPINDI, Oct 22: An impressive exhibition based on design analysis of black and white shading and framing of finished work was put on display by the postgraduate students of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU).

The PNCA director-general, Raja Changez Sultan, described the works as highly impressive. He made this comment at the inauguration of design exhibition of 31 works by about 21 students at a local hotel on Monday.

He praised the black and white medium chosen for drawings and the finishing touches given to the analysis of design material.

The PNCA was keen to develop a relationship with the university to promote artistic skills in the institution.

Six internships were announced for fine arts students on behalf of the PNCA and offered the them to work in different sections.

The idea of conducting workshop on design analysis in black and white was the idea of Dr Uzma Qureshi who heads the fine arts department.

The workshop was conducted by printmaker and artist Sabiha Hussain, Mehr Afroze and Uzma Durrani. The visitors included renowned cubist artist Mansur Rahi and his artist wife.

The idea of holding a design analysis exhibition was the outcome of 72-hour drawing workshop for Postgraduate students of the university.

These linear, monochromatic and non-figurative works attracted the visitors since these works explored below the surface structures of objects and images in art design and architecture.

Designs made by Beenish Azam And Summaira Shahid were appreciated. Mr Sultan purchased a few designs made by these two students.
