‘Taliban find pieces of helicopter’

DOHA, Oct 21: The Taliban say they had found debris of a US helicopter they claimed to have downed two nights ago that crashed in Pakistan, as well as traces of blood, the Arabic television station Al-Jazeera reported on Sunday.

“Taliban soldiers have found pieces from an American helicopter that the Taliban claim to have shot down on the Baba Sahib mountain,” west of the city of Kandahar, the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera quoted Taliban sources as saying.

The report said the Taliban claim to have shot down the helicopter overnight Friday over the mountain which “overlooks the house of Mullah Omar.”

“The Taliban soldiers have also found traces of blood amid the helicopter pieces,” it said, and added: “Search is continuing to find the remains of American commandos.”—AFP
