Rossi wins after Biaggi crashes out


SEPANG (Malaysia), Oct 21: Newly-crowned world 500cc champion Valentino Rossi won the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday in a race that saw his Italian compatriot and rival Max Biaggi crashing out.

Biaggi’s hopes of securing second place in the world championship received a crushing blow when he took American Kenny Roberts out early in the race.

Rossi had an enormous battle on his Honda from the very start but triumphed in the end with a time of 44 minutes 46.652 seconds, clinching his 10th victory of the season.

Another Italian, Loris Capirossi, finished the 21-lap race in second place, also on a Honda, while Australian Garry McCoy came third, just four seconds behind the winner.
