Mirpurkhas hit by power breakdowns

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 21: Frequent power failures in Hirabad sub-division have become the order of the day, particularly in various localities of the city, as a result of which life has been paralyzed.

The reason of the power failures was stated to be the “overload in commercial areas”.

The frequent power failures have created a lot of difficulties for people residing in Hirabad, Nai Para, Noorshah Colony, Khar Para, Gohar Colony, Gao Shala, Hameedpura Colony, Pir Colony, Mir Colony, Thamsabad, Mohajir Colony, Ahmedani Colony, Jamnadas Colony, Rajar Colony, Pak Colony, Bashirabad, Nawab Colony, Ghousia Colony.

Residents of several of these localities told this correspondent that it was routine for the power supply to remain cut off from five to ten hours almost on a daily basis; however, even then they were getting inflated bills.

They regretted that despite repeated complaints, nothing had been done regarding it.

They demanded the authorities concerned to take notice of the power breakdowns and separate residential areas from the commercial areas to resolve people’s problems.

Meanwhile, a six-hour long power-breakdown hit the city on Sunday paralysing life. The power supply to the city was disconnected at 5am plunging the city in darkness. The power supply was restored at 11:00am.

SIX COPS SUSPENDED: The SSP, Sanghar, Shahid Haneef, suspended six officials of the Sindhri police post on Saturday on charges of negligence.

The SSP took serious notice of the police officials who had failed to arrest highwaymen involved in looting a coach near the Sindhri police post.
